Leonard Nimoy Calls It A Day

Emotional news for Star Trek fans as Leonard Nimoy, Mr Spock himself has decided not to attend anymore fan conventions and enter retirement. Nimoy, one of the most popular actors from the whole Star Trek universe has decided at the age of 80 to take life easier.

His parting words at his last convention, "Live long and prosper" rang out over a crowd who were celebrating the 45th anniversary of the broadcast of the first episode in Chicago.

Although this may be the last time Nimoy shares his love of the show directly to fans, I think we can safely assume he'll still pop up every now and again whether it be on screen, on stage or even only in voice keeping everyone's favourite half human half V ... »

CBS Action has hired an unknown, Raules Davies, to front a major on-air campaign for Star Trek: The Next Generation which airs on the channel each weeknight from 20 July, and conduct live chats over on Twitter during the episodes, sharing trivia and giving other fans the chance to win some great memorabilia and other prizes.

In a unique TV first, hotel night manager, Davies, 36, will introduce the episodes and share his vast Star Trek knowledge with viewers, plus divulge all the trivia and gossip he's picked up over the years, as a self-styled 'Trekologist'.

CBS Action Fans To Take Over Marketing Campaign For Star Trek: The Next Generation

UK entertainment TV channel CBS Action is to put real fans at the heart of its on-air, off-air and online marketing campaign to mark its network premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

A self-styled "Trekologist" Raules Davies, a 36 year-old hotel night manager from Manchester who was spotted at a sci-fi convention late last year, has been hired by the channel - part of the CBS Chello Zone UK portfolio - to introduce every episode on-air, from its launch on the channel on 20 July 2011.

For the three launch episodes, Raules will also be hosting CBS Action's Twitter page, @cbsaction, tweeting throughout the broadcasts, sharing trivia, answering questions to test his encyclopaedic knowledge of the show and giving other Star Trek fans the chance to win prizes.
